It's a Small World: The Maypole Edition

LA residents will likely recognize the Maypole located on the front lawn of the Archer School for Girls in Brentwood. It has been one of the neighborhood's most colorful traditions since first appearing in 1981, when the iconic Spanish Colonial Revival building was known as the Eastern Star Home for the Elderly (and was used as an infamous location in the 1974 film, Chinatown).

 

May is one of my favorite months of the year. Spring is in full bloom, the promise of summer lies ahead and we get to honor mothers, fertility, and Mint Juleps. What could be better?

If you didn't know, last year, my cousin Josh and I had a coffee table book published.
