It's A Small World: Hometown Community

It's A Small World: Hometown Community

Greetings Friends

As I was walking my dogs a couple of Fridays ago, the sound of drums and cheers pierced the early evening stillness. It took me a moment to place the sound: “Oh, yeah. Friday Night Lights. High school football.” It reminded me that there are few things that unite a community more than a local sports team. And community is something all of us need right now.

In this month's newsletter, I'm excited to introduce a wonderful friend and realtor who manages a high-performing team in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I’m also sharing some insights on why thinking like Apple or Disney will increase the odds on you securing your dream price, plus offering an inside look at 3 homes that hit the market this week so you can get a sense of what $1.699M will get you.

With gratitude/ps

Meet The Main Line's Marvelous Marie Gordon

Marie Gordon manages a powerhouse team of realtors advising Sellers and Buyers in Philadelphia’s Main Line suburbs; 7 agents, 700+ closed transactions and more than $550 million in sales. But that’s not why I joyfully recommend her to anyone interested in this picturesque and historic area. No, the primary reason I recommend Marie is that she is simply one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve met in this industry. Now, don’t get me wrong, she’s a boss – a badass boss I might add. But, she also has heart and a smile that will melt you and if you feel those things are important, then let me make an introduction.

In the meantime, you can meet her in the short video below.

What Disney & Apple Can Teach Sellers

My brokerage, Compass, has been disrupting the industry over the past year with our 3 Phased Marketing Strategy, of which listing as a Private Exclusive is but phase one. I’ve personally utilized it for the past three years to great success. But not everyone thinks it’s a sound strategy, In fact, I was recently accused by another agent of scamming my clients by listing first as a Private Exclusive and not just “dropping it on the MLS like everybody else does.“

I asked him: “Do you think Disney releases a film on 3,000 screens without first testing it with audiences? Do you think Apple even begins to develop a product before testing its viability with consumers?”

The answer, of course, is no. But I’m curious to know what you think. Do you believe Sellers have the right to choose how best to list and market their property?

What $1.699M Gets You in LA

A quick peek inside 3 homes, all priced at $1.699M, that just hit the market this week. I’ve placed them within a Compass Collection – think Zillow on steroids – which is a great home search tool, free of ads, misleading data and cumbersome design. With it, you can collaborate with your realtor in real time to efficiently find the homes you want to see.

Take a look and let me know which one is your fav! And, if you’d like your own personal Collection (in any area, at any price range) I’d be happy to set one up that meets your specific criteria.

Blue Heaven

There are 12 professional sports teams in Los Angeles. Combined, they account for 34 world championships. And while the Lakers are unquestionably the biggest global brand, the Los Angeles Dodgers remain the beating heart of the City of Angels.

I became a Dodger fan at the age of 4 when my grandmother’s houseman took me to see them play at the Coliseum. William, a Jamaican, adored the Dodgers because they had broken the color barrier when they signed Jackie Robinson in 1947. In the 8 decades since, the organization has shown a willingness to embrace diversity, sometimes for moral reasons, sometimes for business, making them pioneers both on and off the field.

As a result, Dodger baseball is the connective tissue across the broad diversity that is Los Angeles, where more than 200 different languages are spoken. Their successes and failures are celebrated. or bemoaned, across the Southland regardless of gender, race, age, culture or political affiliation.

And, after last night’s epic 18 inning victory, I have no doubt that Dodgers Community Pride will be on full display today as it is on the other 364 days of the year.

So, whether you say Go Blue or Go Doyers, if you’re lucky enough to have a ticket for tonight’s game, get their early and be prepared to stay late because "it's time for Dodgers baseball."
